Last Sunday my BMW X3 started to pull a little when I brake, and my brother in law, who knows cars, told me to stop putting it off. The car has about eighty thousand kilometres, and I live in Al Barsha, where I do a lot of short trips and school runs in slow traffic. I called three places for a price. One said only genuine parts are safe on a BMW. Another said their pads come from the same factory and cost much less. The third just said bring it in and we will see. I looked online for a Genuine BMW brake pad installation near Al Barsha, but every page said the same thing, so I still do not know how to tell a real part from a copy. Is there a box, a part number or a stamp I can check? Is it normal for the shop to replace the wear sensor every time, and does it cost extra? Do the pads and discs always go together on a BMW, or can the discs wait if they are still in good shape? Will the dash warning go away by itself after the job? Also, how long does it take, and can I wait there? If you changed pads on your BMW lately, please tell me where you went, what you paid, and what you would do differently. Easy answers help me most.
