TOPIC: Solite or Varta for a Honda Civic? Two shops, two

Solite or Varta for a Honda Civic? Two shops, two 5 days 17 hours ago #1858

My 2015 Honda Civic has about 118,000 kilometers, and the battery has been getting lazy for a few weeks. Last Wednesday it took three tries to start in the office parking lot, and I felt the stares of everyone walking past. I stopped at two shops on my way home to ask about prices. The first one pushed a Solite and said it is a solid choice for this weather and costs less than the famous brands. The second shop owner made a face and said I should pay more for a Varta, because a known name means fewer problems. Both sounded confident, which is exactly what makes it hard. My colleague says he has used Solite on his Corolla for two summers without trouble, but another friend says he knows someone who had one die in under a year. I do not know how much of that is the battery and how much is just bad luck or old stock. I read a page from a workshop in Sharjah about this brand, and it explained the sizes, the warranty and how a proper job should include a charging test, which made me think the alternator could also be part of my problem. Since I live in Sharjah, I typed Quality Solite battery supplier in Sharjah into my phone one night, mostly to see who stocks it and how the prices compare with the bigger names. So here is what I want to ask. Has anyone here used a Solite on a daily driver, and how many summers did it last? How do you check the manufacture date on the battery so you do not buy one that sat on a shelf all year? Also, does the warranty cover heat problems, or do they find a reason to refuse? One more thing, is it smart to ask for a charging test before and after the swap, so I know the new battery is not being killed by something else? If you compared two brands before buying, please tell me what you chose and how it went. Thanks everyone.
